I don’t set resolutions. I don’t even set definite goals (at least not that I share here). So this isn’t going to be about resolutions.
This questions comes thanks to a friend from Austin. I felt like he was interviewing my over dim sum, which was kinda cool. When he asked me the question, it was easy to answer the first part of the question since I did a lot of new things in 2007. The experience that stuck out most was scuba diving Cozumel. It was more difficult than I expected. I freaked out at the weirdness of being able to breathe underwater, and I love being underwater. Luckily, I had a really great (and patient!) instructor who made the whole process smoother. Still, I regret being too nervous about breathing normally, checking my pressure gauge and making sure to periodically pop my ears and get water out of my mask to really enjoy the experience. I definitely want to go diving again, especially after checking out Jeff’s photos from diving in Jamaica.
When my friend asked the question, it was difficult to come up with something new other than saying I planned to visit Austin in 2008. I’ve got a better vision of 2008 now that the new year has started. I’ve been inspired by my friends (hi, Awkward Turtle) and I’m going to propose. Yup, I’m going to write my dissertation proposal and get one step closer to being Dr. Cindylu. I guess you can call that a goal.
La Pregunta: What’s something you did in 2007 that you had never done before? What’s something new you want to do in 2008?

Don’t forget to decompress at 15 feet for 3 minutes. lol
🙂
I gotta tell you, I LOVE LOVE LOVE the water and I’m considering moving to Jamaica and buying the Dive shop I used last year (2007) and the year prior to that.
I had never Sky Dived until last year, so now I can say I’m an Air & Sea Diver.
2008 will be for Cage Diving with Great Whites in South Africa. The place is known as Seal Island. Join me Cindy!
Thanks for the link to my site. You are an exceptional human being.

Jeff,
I think I’ll have to pass on the sharks. However, if you do get a dive shop, I’d definitely sign up for more lessons.
Jr.,
I think you misunderstood the question, but thanks for sharing… I guess.
Momo,
How was that cricket? Planning a wedding sounds like a lot of work. Good luck with that!
Lo,
I’m glad that “burn” referred to Burning Man and not the painful type of burn. Yay for defending! That sounds really exciting.
Bonita in Pink,
I’m sure your family will love to get to meet the lil’ one! Congrats for, like, the 31st time on being a new mommy.
AJ,
Racing school? You never cease to amaze me. I think you should team up with Jeff and go cage diving with great whites!
Astrid,
That move would scare me, but you seem to be doing really, really well. I love Facebook’s “it’s complicated” option, but I also hate that there’s a reason for it to exist.
P-3000,
You’ve never accept insecurity ’til now? Wow. I think I’ve been accepting insecurity since I was in pre-school (I was a really confident toddler). I like your 2008 plans.
Veronica,
I met someone who had never flown. It was so weird to me. I couldn’t really compute. Earlier in the summer, I sat next to an older woman (must’ve been in her late 50s) who was flying for the first time. It made a lot of sense when she admitted this, because she was totally freaking out when we took off. I felt good though, ’cause after the flight landed she told her daughter that the girl sitting beside her (me!) was really sweet. Mazatlan is nice, but it’s HOT. I went in August ’04 (pics on flickr).
